[alpha]3Na[.sup.+]/K[.sup.+]-ATPase is a neuronal receptor for agrin
Article Abstract:
Agrin, through its interaction with receptor tyrosine kinase MuSK, mediates accumulation of acetylcholine receptors (AChR) at the developing neuromuscular junction. Agrin fragment that acts as a competitive antagonist depresses action potential frequency, showing that endogenous agrin regulates native [alpha]3NKA function, and these data demonstrate that through its interaction, agrin regulates activity-dependent processes in neurons, providing a molecular framework for agrin action in the CNS.

Gradients of the Drosophila Chinmo BTB-zinc finger protein govern neuronal temporal identity
Article Abstract:
A novel BTB-zinc finger protein Chronologically inappropriate morphogenesis (Chinmo) governs neuronal temporal identity during postembryonic development of the Drosophila brain. Loss of Chinmo autonomously causes early-born neurons to adopt the fates of late-born neurons from the mushroom body and projection neuron lineages.

Snaring the function of alpha-synuclein
Article Abstract:
The normal functions of the abundant neuronal protein alpha-synuclein are studied. The results demonstrate that alpha-synuclein acts as a molecular chaperone, assisting in the folding and refolding of synaptic proteins called SNAREs.
